My name is Zach Pezzillo. I'm a Professional Photographer and Freelance Conservationist (or is it the other way around?) and I will be sharing the tall tales and corroborating photographs from my grand adventures. Enjoy!

I have decided to begin a blog of my adventures in conservation and photography. It will be a collection of stories and photos from the dense, saturated rainforests on Haleakalā, the conservation efforts on the leeward slopes of Maui's dormant volcano, and the minute Ariamnes spiders that are hanging precariously from branches at the base of precipitous waterfalls.

Wherever I go, I will chronicle both the adventures that I seek and the ones that seek me. I have never done something like this before and am thrilled to begin this new challenge. I have a starting point (this post and the title of this blog) but I don't have a clear end in sight. I'm excited to see where it goes and how it grows.

I see this as a personal test that I must pass again and again by creating significant, meaningful content for each post. While I have previously taken off a few days/weeks/months here and there from shooting, I will now have to push myself to get out and about in a more routine manner in order to create the material needed for this blog.

Up until now I have used Instagram as a creative outlet for posting my photography. While I was able to write descriptions for the photos, I always felt that they were lacking and needed more substance. Hopefully this blog will allow me to give my work the body and shape that it needs.

I hope you enjoy what is to come, I know I certainly will. Please feel free to give me your feedback as I would love to hear what you think along the way.

Mahalo nui loa,

Zach Pezzillo
